Weekly News

25 February 2008

From the keyboard of Lee Schearer,

On a personal note I want to thank the members of the Chapel Hill Leads Group in support of the "What Color Do You Bleed" campaign which will benefit the American Red Cross Chapters here in the Triangle region. It is vital that these chapters remain open in order to assist folks in need throughout the region. With federal funding being cut, we as community leaders must step up and pledge not only our funds but also our talents and support.

I encourage you to make a pledge to help. One way is to agree to link their site (www.whatcolordoyoubleed.com), which will be active after March 1, 2008, to your web-site. Not only will this enhance your web presence but it will also demonstrate your support of community involvement as a community leader. Remember, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the tee shirts will benefit the individual community Red Cross Chapters. Another way to help will be to attend the Kickoff Event to be held this coming Saturday March 1st. at A Southern Season located at the University Mall in Chapel Hill. The event will start at 10:00am and last until 3:00pm. Volunteers and staff from the Orange County American Red Cross will be present with promotional material informing the public of this campaign and soliciting contributions and sales of the tee shirts.

As I mentioned last week at the meeting, the Chapel Hill Leads Group has designated the Orange County American Red Cross Chapter as one of the two community organizations which we routinely support. I encourage you to get behind this effort in order to make sure that the American Red Cross will have a sustainable presence in our communities.

I hope to see you this Wednesday morning bright and early, with a smile on your face, a song in your heart and a determination to make your community a better place in which to live, work and play. Remember, to invite a colleague so that they can experience the "can-do attitude" of the Chapel Hill Leads Group.

Respectfully,

Lee Schearer
