Beware of Social MediaThis message is the first in my series of messages about the dangers of social media networking tools. You all know how adamant I am about networking opportunities, however there are inherent dangers associated with such networks as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and others; My message today is about:
Avoid Sharing Vital Information
Users tend to share personal information on social network sites that they might otherwise closely guard. Often, they reveal such data as birthdays, home addresses, wedding announcements, travel plans and even photographs of expensive gifts and family members. What they fail to remember is that whenever anything is put on the "web" anyone, including criminals can also look at the information and build a dossier of their intended target, perhaps you. Like spoken words, once a photograph and other information is "out there" it can never be retrieved. So, be very careful about the popular social networking sites, as criminal are also very social people.
I invite you to attend the Chapel Hill Leads Group this Wednesday morning, and remember to invite a friend, colleague or future business entrepreneur, so that they too can experience the success of the largest business referral group in the region.

Our regularly scheduled weekly meeting will be held Wednesday morning at Extraordinary Ventures, Inc.,
200 South Elliott Road, Chapel Hill from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Meeting Dues are $5.00 per
week. Place your business card and $1.00 in the Optional Drawing. One card will be
selected and that person will receive the week's kitty. For Express Check-In, please arrive with a
$5.00, a $1.00, and a business card and we will check you in. We greatly appreciate your bringing correct
change. We cannot change large denomination bills ($10, $20, $50, etc.) and cannot accept checks.

Joe Jacob was raised along the banks of the Mississippi River in New Orleans, became a marine biologist, worked 20 years for The Nature Conservancy as Director of Science for the Southeast Region, started my first canoe & kayak company in 1989 and live in Alaska 3 to 5 months of the year. He will be showing a 7-minute CD about The Haw River Canoe & Kayak Co. which will give everyone a better idea of what it is and what we offer within a 35 mile radius of Saxapahaw, NC. Hear Joe and learn where to find 7 different canoe & kayak courses, on 17 different stretches of the Haw River in Alamance, Chatham & Orange Counties, and 21 different nature- & culturally-based canoe and kayak trips.

Take Raleigh Road towards Raleigh and I-40. Becomes 54 East. Proceed approximately 1˝ miles. Turn right on Barbee Chapel Road (CITGO Gas Station on corner). Barbee Chapel is the next right turn following the Friday Center Drive. Proceed ˝ mile and turn right at white sign into the UNC FSRA. Clubhouse and Picnic Shelter event parking is available by taking the first two right turns into lots behind the picnic shelter and hard courts.
- From Points East (Raleigh & Durham)
From I-40 take exit 273 towards Chapel Hill. Proceed approximately two miles. Turn left on Barbee Chapel Road. Barbee Chapel is the first stoplight after the “Welcome to Chapel Hill” sign on right. There is a CITGO Gas Station on the corner. Proceed ˝ mile and turn right at white sign into the UNC FSRA. Clubhouse and Picnic Shelter event parking is available by taking the first two right turns into lots behind the picnic shelter and hard courts.
- Parking:
There is a large lot behind the picnic shelters on the right hand side of the drive and another lot near the hard tennis courts on the right hand side of the drive. DO NOT park in the lot on the left side of the drive near the farm house. This lot is reserved for tennis players

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce will be closed all day Monday, 31 May 2010 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. They will open again on Tuesday June 1.
