From the keyboard of Lee Schearer,

D-Day 66 Years Ago

On a personal level, I have always revered the observance of D-Day, June 6, 1944. As most of you know my Father was a Captain with the 1st Division (The Big Red-1) and landed on Omaha Beach, 1st wave. I am always searching old photographs of that day in the hopes that I might recognize him, although it would be improbable given the magnitude of that event. However, I continue my search.

In doing so, I want to thank Tom & Peggy Lacy for the book "The Greatest Generation", the leads Group in whole for the book "D-Day", Marilyn Avis for the photographs and Mike Humphreys for the card on Memorial Day. It is good to know that so many of our Leads Group members share in my passion regarding those past events that have helped to shape both my life and that of our members in their appreciation of the sacrifices of our Father's, Mother's, Grandparents and the ordinary citizens of that time period. I think about the contribution of our members who recently donated in the effort started by Dave Stoner, in sending "care packages" to some of our military folks serving in Afghanistan, where we surpassed our goal of 10 care-package boxes by nearly 150%.

These are just some of the reasons why so many of us support the Chapel Hill Leads Group. It is the heart & soul of our members. I invite you to join us this Wednesday morning and experience for yourself the positive attitude that has made the Chapel Hill Leads Group the premier business referral group in the region. Bring a smile on your face, a patriotic song on your mind and an attitude of gratitude to those both past and present who help preserve our freedom in this great country, America.

Respectfully,

Lee Schearer
